We make it

Since 1971, we have been dedicated to the permanent preservation of 100 acres of urban forest, nestled within one of Tulsa’s most distinctive residential communities. Through the efforts of our volunteers, board members, and staff, we have safeguarded numerous neighborhood treasures, ensuring their longevity for future generations. Here is just a glimpse of the remarkable spaces we have helped protect over the years.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse, located at 1919 W. Seminole, serves as both a vibrant community gathering space and the headquarters for the homeowners association. It features a spacious multipurpose room, a cozy living area with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, an exercise room, showers, and an outdoor pool. Rebuilt after a fire in 1987, the clubhouse remains the heart of the neighborhood. Additionally, a women’s exercise group meets every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning.

Trails and Ponds

How many miles of trails run through the Gilcrease Hills 100-acre cross-timber woods? Well, we’re busy mapping (and naming) them in 2023. If you set out on one of the trails from your cul-de-sac, be sure to take your GPS and a sturdy walking stick, as most trails are pretty hilly. And don’t even get us started with the Tale of the Pond Ducks. We also started a Landscape & Sustainability committee to develop a forest maintenance plan. In addition, we’re partnering with several community ecology organizations and the Oklahoma State Forest Service.

Tennis and Pickleball Courts

In 2022, one of our two courts was resurfaced and redesigned to accommodate both tennis and pickleball, now featuring one tennis court and two pickleball courts. Additionally, windscreens were installed on the north and south fences to enhance playing conditions. A tennis coach is also available for instruction and training.

Swimming Pools

GHHOA maintains two pools for resident enjoyment—one at the clubhouse and another in Oakwood Village, located at Gilcrease Museum Road and Independence Avenue. Both pools are in excellent condition, thanks to extensive maintenance efforts in recent years. The Oakwood pool, in particular, underwent a complete reconstruction in the 1990’s, ensuring its long-term durability and functionality.
